33:4 - But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.
Jacob deceived Esau and took not only his birthright, but also his blessing. Esau was angry at Jacob and Jacob believed his life was at risk. Because of this, Jacob ran. Jacob was gone for 20 years, serving Laban. During this time, Jacob received 2 wives, 2 wives' servants, and 11 sons. Then he chose to go back home. On returning home, Jacob chose to "bribe" forgiveness from Esau through gifts prior to his arrival. Esau showed Jacob forgiveness, running to meet and embrace him. Esau didn't even want the gifts, he'd simply forgiven Jacob. This is what we should do. We should forgive. Forgiveness isn't about what we may receive in order to earn it, but rather letting go and simply forgiving.
